Ah, read the title again – we actually took the day off and I can assure you it was well earned.
A leisurely breakfast followed by a cleaning of all “the stuff” – it is not easy getting all the Mongolian dust off everything – it seemed to get places I didn’t know existed.
A little walk around the neighborhood for some water and other basic things had us come across some cars for sale. Lloyd thought they were all so small that he might have to buy all three but then again, he already has a Mini. They are from left to right a Fiat 500, Mini Cooper (original style) and a BMW Isetta – pretty cute.
Since this is a day off, I’ll try to keep this short. It has been confirmed that the #22 car did indeed burn to the ground and the #44 car is out with non-repairable issues and their driver have moved to other vehicles purchased along the way. There are cars falling out with new problems and others reappearing having been repaired. It’s hard to get a fix on the overall status of things – perhaps best left to the official web site www.pekingparis.com.
Lloyd took a cable car ride to the top of the nearby mountains and had dinner with Greg and Liz Newton from Australia and I just stayed in the hotel lobby where there was plenty of activity.
Tomorrow promises to be another long day as we must cover 729 kms. where much is dependent on road conditions.
Till then …
